Let the Bush tax cuts expire...I would support a tax increase on the middle and low class. With all this cutting, they will be spending more money on basic things.
I real hope that Congress focuses on the big things, medicare, medicaid, social security and the military. Cutting other programs are such a tiny percent of the budget(I believe I've heard 10%,but I'd be interested in a source confirming or denying)
Increase the age for medicare, cut benefits for wealth in medicare and social security. Cut the military by pulling troops in Germany and Japan back home. And continue winding down Iraq and start doing so in Afghanistan in 2012 as promised. But as they are winding down, cut the budget for the money the wars demanded.
And then any cuts for smaller programs will be for political points, but it might have a few dollars as well.

Exactly! That's why the iMacs didn't get the Intel procssors until 7 months after the Mac Pros, right?
Well the iMacs did get the Core 2 Dou processors after the Mac Pro. The Mac Pros came out with Core 2 Dou first.
The PowerMacs/Mac Pros are 64 bit systems. So Apple couldn't upgrade the Mac Pros with 32 bit processors from its old 32 bit processors. Because people who have Powermacs/Mac Pros needed the 64 bit processor.

We all know that this is just Adobe's Revenge for Apple stepping on its e-Toes with items like Final Cut Studio which for all practical purposes smacks down anything that Adobe can muster up, and for Aperature, which is not as good as it could be, but is still in the realm that Adobe used to dominate. On the audio front, I hope that this costs a lot less than Logic Express because if it's not 50% or more cheaper, this horse is dead before it leaves the gate. I mean, Logic is already cheaper than Audition, and for my money, LE does a bit more than Audition (granted I don't come even close to using the full capabilities of LE).
So maybe Soundbooth is just here to compete with Soundtrack, which is kind of dumb, as no one will be using Soundbooth on a Mac since soundbooth will not integrate with FCS the way that Soundtrack does. The more I write about it, the dumber releasing this app for the Mac sounds. I mean. . . Adobe dropped Premiere for the mac because FCP smoked it, but now they want to release an audio app for mac that probably only has a place in a Premiere workflow. Hell, maybe this is just a SoundEdit Deck 16 II!? WTF!? I'm leaving.
I don't understand why anyone would slam a company for releasing a product for the Mac...competition is good, and the audio editor market isn't as healthy on the Mac as you think.
This app isn't designed to compete with Soundtrack Pro...it squares off against Soundtrack, Audacity, Amadeus, and Peak LE. Now, Peak is well respected, but I'm not sure why...it seems very clunky to me. Audacity and Amadeus aren't bad, but they suffer from smaller toolsets, interface abnormalities and no video integration. Soundbooth would be a nice addition to this group.
What I hope the most is that this is simply a test of the code base to bring Audition to the Mac...something that I think is desperately needed.

While reading these pages, what amazes me is that many people keep calling KODAK a patent troll.
YET KODAK STILL MAKES DIGITAL CAMERAS AND PRINTERS BASED ON THESE PATENTS!
2 other companies have already settled on similar lawsuits.
Earth to MacRumors members... APPLE WILL LOSE TOO MOST LIKELY.
That's why I say Apple should just buy KODAK up and get all the royalties for all those patents that so many other companies are already paying or lost lawsuits regarding.
Seems like a no-brainer to me. Apple has the cash, that's for sure. If you're gonna pay it out anyway, why not get something you didn't have in return?

Sometimes, the app store restrictions are a bit ridiculous, and when Apple realizes that they're dealing with people who know what they're doing, they remove those restrictions quickly.

here are some good references to get a grasp of the differences. As others have stated, the lens is the same focal length, but on a smaller sensor body (APC), the image is essentially "cropped". Some websites..

it's a bit cliche that song now. but i do love rage against the machine. that whole album is a work of art. one of the few albums I can listen to all the way through without skipping a track...
OT, i hope the band get together for a whole album again. be interesting to see how different the music would sound now these days. i dont think tom & the rest of the band have developed much (audioslave) but zac's work (what little he has done) since rage has been interesting...

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.
I would very much prefer to use the native Mac versions but they are not sufficient at times. My documents often start out as slides with diagrams, which I then reuse in a word document when the details are nailed down. Have you ever tried copying diagrams from PowerPoint to word or vice-versa? (as diagrams, not slides) Everything gets messed up and font spacing goes for a toss.
The only real way to keep your sanity is to use visio for the diagrams. And visio isn't available for the Mac, nor can you edit the diagrams in word. So, fusion + xp + office 2010 it is.
Yes, I could use omni graffle pro in lieu of visio, but it's ~$200 and I got visio for $10 under microsoft's home use program.

I knew when to expect altitude changes, when (and, more importantly, why) various turns were being made, and whether to expect turbulence up ahead. Hearing the hand-off between various centers also gave me a rough idea of where we were, and gave me an idea of our surroundings (I heard pilots and ATC commenting on what was likely smoke from a forest fire).
